Transparent Mode ISDN, Analogue Leased Line,
FXS/FXO and E&M/Tie Trunk Gateways
Overview
The GW8000 Gateway supports leased line data and telephony services over IP-based Next Generation Networks whilst maintaining the quality of service.
The equipment can be placed in the customer’s premises or in the local exchange (central office). If the equipment is placed in the local exchange then no customer site visit is required.
The GW8000 Gateway presents an interface identical to that currently provided by legacy networks, meaning no changes are required to the customer’s equipment
Security
The GW8000 Gateway offers stateful inspection firewall for multi -layered security with centralised intrusion reporting and management facilities.
A hardware security engine is employed for high performance encryption and authentication
Applications
The GW8000 Gateway can migrate customers using legacy leased line networks to an NGN-based infrastructure. Such applications are:
• Leased lines: the connection is permanently ‘open’ and provides dedicated and uncontended bandwidth to transmit time sensitive and confidential material in a secure way.
• Off -premise extensions (OPX): we provide optional FXS and FXO models for customers that require remote extensions to their PBX.
• Tie trunks: a dedicated channel that directly connects two PBXs together.
• Hotline: we provide an FXS model for customers requiring a point-to-point communications link in which a call is automatically directed to the preselected destination without any additional action by the user when the end instrument goes off-hook.
Quality of Service
The GW8000 Gateway supports DiffServ classification, including marking, queuing, and policing functions. DiffServ capabilities enable the router to be compatible with managed MPLS network applications providing end-to-end quality of service.
High Availability Services
An embedded link monitor continually checks the status of the primary link. If it detects an error condition it automatically routes traffic via an alternative interface.
Voice Quality (MOS)
The GW8000 Gateway offers real-ti me voice quality management. It supports MOS, which actively measures the quality of a voice call based on a given codec (G.711). It can be configured to send alerts should a call fall below a specific threshold.
