Telecommunications Test Engineer


We currently have a vacancy for the role of Telecommunications Test Engineer.
The role of the test engineer will be to manage the Virtual Access production test systems.
This is a custom test system designed in-house using Python.

Virtual Access is an Irish company headquartered in Dublin. We design and manufacture telecommunications equipment for service providers worldwide.
Our technology is used to deliver services to end customers in markets such as financial transactions (automatic teller machines), smart grid and smart metering, public transportation and national lotteries.
Our product range includes a range of routers that are integral in providing services based on 3G, 4G, WiFi, ADSL, VDSL, Ethernet, M2M, IoT and VoIP.
Virtual Access sets the standard in the automation of high volume deployment of complex IP services. Our Activator server platform provides the ability to deploy and manage very large numbers of routers and other network elements with minimal manual intervention.
We work closely with our customers to tailor innovative solutions that address the problems of end-to-end service delivery and thereby differentiate their business in today’s highly competitive market.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • To add new products into the test system
  • Maintenance of existing products
  • Support for our sub-contract manufacturers
  • Enhancement and improvement of the test system including the addition of new features

Experience Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience, preferably in a test-engineering role
  • Python programming experience essential
  • Good understanding of hardware embedded systems
  • Some networking knowledge would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of Linux would be an advantage

Education Requirements

  • Honours degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a a related subject

The suitable candidates should have the ability to work to tight project timelines and should be able to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks.

A salary of up to EUR 50,000 will be offered to the right person.
In addition, the successful candidates will benefit from generous company pension contributions of up to 12.5% of salary, health insurance and disability insurance.
