Network Operations Engineer

Currently we have vacancies for the role of Network Operations Engineer.
You will be part of our network operations department, running a managed broadband router service for systems integrators, Internet Service Providers, utility providers and telcos.

Virtual Access is part of the Westermo Network Technologies group, which is based in Sweden. We design and manufacture telecommunications equipment for service providers worldwide.
Our technology is used to deliver services to end customers in markets such as financial transactions (automatic teller machine), smart grid and smart metering, public transportation, and national lotteries.
Our product range includes routers that are integral in providing services based on 3G, 4G, WiFi, ADSL, VDSL, Ethernet, M2M, IoT, and VoIP.
Virtual Access sets the standard in the automation of high volume deployment of complex IP services. Our Activator server platform provides the ability to deploy and manage very large number of routers and other network elements with minimal intervention.
We work closely with our customers to tailor innovative solutions that address the problems of end-to-end service delivery and thereby differentiate their business in today’s highly competitive market.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • You will be part of our network operations department, running a managed broadband router service for systems integrators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), utility providers and Telcos.
  • The services we provide include IPSec VPNs, firewalls and general access routing.
  • Day to day operations includes service provisioning, monitoring, configuration changes and troubleshooting. You will be liaising with telcos and ISPs in provisioning of broadband services.
  • Initially you will be involved in system testing, working with our R&D department, to become familiar with Virtual Access’s products.
  • Provisioning of services is through Activator, our provisioning and configuration management database system.
  • Some on-call support will be required, for which an allowance will be made.
  • Some international travel may be required in the future.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of IP.
  • Good communication skills, as you will be liaising with many customer and service provider groups.
  • Cyber security qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Some experience in managing telecommunications networks would be preferred.
  • Cisco CCNA qualification would be preferred.
  • Lots of initiative!

Qualifications:

3rd level qualification in computer science, engineering or equivalent
