11/07/18, Dublin, Ireland. Ensuring fit for purpose comms infrastructure/connectivity is an essential feature of establishing smart grids, which is itself crucial in order to meet increasing demands for electricity and Government targets on carbon emissions. This connectivity will entail a mix of technologies (wireless, wireline, satellite) and service provision (public, private networks). Government and regulators are vital players in terms of ensuring suitable policy environment and availability of necessary spectrum. Yet there is insufficient understanding and collaboration between the various players in this ecosystem.
On 12 July, London, techUK is bringing together utilities, telecoms experts, Government and Ofcom to discuss the challenges involved in ensuring a fit for purpose comms infrastructure. Patrick Conway of Virtual Access will be one of the panelists discussing the relevant (available and emerging) communications technology and networking solutions that address the above challenges facing utility companies.
Other panelists include: Liam Beard (Vodafone), James Irvine (PNDC/Univ of Strathclyde), Noel Kirkaldi (Nokia) and Julian Stafford (WHP Telecoms)
