SYNCHRONOUS SERIAL
MOVE DIGITAL LEASED LINE CUSTOMERS WITH NO DISRUPTION
HOW THE SOLUTION WORKS
Digital leased lines are typically presented as T1 or E1/G.703, x.21, V.35 or V.24. These services are now difficult to provide as the telco core networks move to Ethernet. Virtual Access products provide the ability to emulate these digital leased line services over IP/Ethernet networks using TDM over IP standards. The emulated circuits appear as before, enabling equipment that relies on these services to keep operating.
CLOCK RECOVERY
In the TDM environment, clocks are distributed through the network. However, in Ethernet environments typically there is no common clock (Synchronous Ethernet excepted). To prevent slippage, the clocks at each end of a simulated leased line must be synchronised. The Virtual Access TDM over IP products have clock recovery mechanisms that enable them to learn a clock speed from a remote node in the network. The GW7950 also supports IEEE1588 such that it can recover a clock from a common clock source in the network. Synchronous Ethernet is also supported on the GW7950.
